A short update on SALT

It's been a few months since my last update. Much has happened in my life and at work since then. While I want to include you all & reflect in a more comprehensive way on the spring & summer, I don't have the time. But I can share some photos and a short summary of what God has been doing through the SALT program so far.

I entered into SALT feeling unprepared, physically, mentally, & spiritually. But God has shown up big time. He's filled me with joy, strength, & clarity as we execute on the months of planning leading into it. It goes to show how God's power & grace are the source of empowered Christian work.
I'm working with my friend Nancy as my co-facilitator, & we work so well together! Authentic & open communication are at the core of our working relationship, & our great teamwork is really enabling us to function at the highest level.
Last week we went on a rafting trip on the Kootenay River; it was amazing & went off (mostly) without a hitch. The participants really came together as a group & bonded; now we feel like a big, happy family. We've been talking about the basics of leadership, what makes a good follower, & why trust in God is so key in the Christian walk. We also got to work with my friend Laura, a former staff member of Frontier Lodge & a river guide. She was a wonderful addition to our team for the week.

We also went out rock climbing this week, to complete our section on Following & Trusting God. Our next topic is how God empowers us to lead ourselves to what we need the most - Himself.

The group is really earnest, excited to learn about how God invites us into leadership, and eager to grow their relationships with us staff & each other.

Please pray for God's continued provision, leadership, & presence within our community. At the end of this week, we're going on our first backpacking trip & setting up a basecamp in the Whiterabbit wilderness area. Every single one of these young people are so special; I wish you all could meet them & know how powerfully God is working in their lives.
May his grace & peace be with you,
Alex
